Russia

Fall 2008, and I am in Russia for some days.

My ex-wife was born in Russia, and she is put to rest in her mothers home town - Vologda. This was a trip to meet family and visit her final resting place.

Denis and Julia picked me up at the Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow. It is a 450 km long drive North of Moscow to get to Vologda.

On the way we stop at a small kafê in Yaroslavl.

The interior.

Lenin is still on display in Vologda.

Karina and Natalia at lunch.

Karina at the town museum. Harry Potter cast!

Vologda 800 years 1147-1947.

The town is filled with churches. This bell is from 1685.

A typical town bus.

Inside a bus.

Tickets are cheap.

One day there was a lot of weddings in town. We passed many of the happy newlyweds. These invited us for champagne.

And they posed for a kiss.

One of the many churches downtown.

After a late evening barbeque. I am on the right.

Train ticket back to Moscow.
