Photos from the last year

I was going through some photos taken during the last year and picked some to publish here. The quality varies - but no need to look. :-)

Internet Explorer Error

I have just discovered that there is an error on my page when viewed with Internet Explorer. The “About me” section on the right hand side is displayed at the lower part of the page instead of at the top.

With Opera, which I use, it looks OK. The same goes with Firefox.

I have no idea of how it got to be like this, and since it looks fine in the other two browsers I am not sure if this is easy to fix. Maybe I have to redo the whole thing?

Svalbard 78N 15E

This week I flew to Svalbard where we had a 25 hour stop. I brought my dad along. This was the first time on Svalbard for the both of us.

The weather was beautiful +6C (43F) and sunny. The spring had arrived almost a month earlier than what it usually does. We had hoped to go on a sledge or snowmobile trip, but the snow was at such a state that it was not possible. Instead we rented a taxi to drive us around so that we could have a look at the area around town. Not so many roads to drive though – the taxi driver said there was a total of 45km on the island.

We also went for a walk around Longyearbyen – but we did not go outside the city limits as polar bears make it rather unsafe to wander around without being armed.

We did not see any polar bears but got to see a seal and some reindeers.

At night we had a nice meal at the SAS hotels restaurant. Large windows with beautiful scenery outside and the midnight sun gave an extra dimension to it all.

The second day we did some shopping and visited the Svalbard museum. My father always wanting to go to Svalbard also managed to take a swim in the sea. Pretty cool!

There is a population of approx 1900 Norwegians at the island. Plus some Russians located in Barentsburg. The main settlement is Longyearbyen where the airport is located. Coal mining, research and tourism keep the island alive. They are also placed outside regular Norwegian taxes and pays no tax, so some goods are cheaper than in Norway (subtract 25%).

The last month I have been flying as far south as Las Palmas, Canary Islands at 28N outside the cost of Africa, and up to Svalbard at 78N in the Arctic. Quite a difference in climate.

Yours truly at Svalbard

Fun with music

I was reading Lisas Snarky graphs when I found this.

You are supposed to use your iPod but since I don’t have one I had to use my Media Player.

Here are the rules:

Put your iPod on shuffle, press forward for each question. Use the song title as the answer to the question, even if it makes no sense.

How am I feeling today?
“Wasted youth” by Meat Loaf (I was actually listening to "Holding back the years" earlier today but I did not regret my youth)

Will I get far in life?
“Angels Crying” by E-Type
Angles crying, when you're far away from me
No denying, we were meant to be
(I am not sure how to interpret this... Maybe I have to have my love close by in order to succeed?)

How do my friends see me?
“In my secret life” by Leonard Cohen (I have to be more open)

What's my best friend's theme song?
“No Me Vas A Olvidar” by Amanda Miguel (Beats me – I don’t speak Spanish)

What is the story of my life?
“In love with an Angel” by Maria Arredondo and Christian Ingebrigtsen (This one is!!)

What was high school like?
“Smake (Taste)” by Dronning Mauds Land (About a girl wanting to taste your soul and return it whole…)

How can I get ahead in life?
“NPG Operator” by Prince Please access another experience (Where? How? When?)

What's the best thing about me?
“Soar” by Christina Aguilera Don't be scared to fly alone, find a path that is your own. Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours. Don't hold back and always know, all the answers will unfold. What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar

What is today going to be like?
“Love is all we need” by Celine Dion (The day is almost over but I have to agree)

What is in store for you this weekend?
“Hope You're Feelin' Me (Like I'm Feelin' You)” by Charlie Pride (Could be interesting!)

What song describes your parents?
“I love NASCAR” by Cledus T. Judd (Obviously a new side of my parents that I did not know of)

What song describes your siblings?
“Affirmation” by Savage Garden (This song literally states everything my sister (should) believe in)

What song describes your grandparents?
Heat Between the Sheets” by Marc Terenzi (Not something I need to have an image of, but my father has seven siblings)

What song describes your friends?
“Sk8er Boi” by Avril Lavigne

How's my life going?
“Happy Boys & Girls” by Aqua (Let’s go and have some fun)

What song will they play at my funeral?
“Here, there and everywhere” by Sissel Kyrkjebø (Let’s hope it will be many years until someone gets to hear this one….)

Will I have a happy life?
“April” by Dronning Mauds Land (Hmm - I guess April is not that bad?)

What do my friends really think of me?
“Frogs and Princes” by Natasha Bedingfield (He He! I guess that is true. I just hope the majority goes for the Prince)

How can I make myself happy?
“In America” by Charlie Daniels band (America here I come!!)

What should I do with my life?
“The way of love” by Cher (Love is the answer)

Will I have kids?
“For your babies” by Simply Red (Smack on!)

Will you be in love soon?
“Andante religioso from Holberg Suite” by Edvard Grieg (Hmm?? No lyrics. Am I to assume that she is religious?)

If someone like to send me a synopsis of what my Media Player is trying to tell me – please do.
